Silver Metal Clay Classes
Silver metal clay is a unique form of silver. It is made by combining microscopic particles of silver in an organic binder. The clay is hand formed to create your piece. The clay is then finished and fired in a kiln to burn off the binder, leaving a 99.9% pure silver object.

LOW RELIEF SCUPLPTING - Students will be shown how to create realistic low relief sculptural jewelry in metal clay. Low-relief involves creating a design visually attached to a background area. This technique is common ground between drawing and sculpture. Clay is removed or added in strategic areas creating an illusion of superficial depth across the clay surface. No sculpture experience is required but participants must be comfortable with basic metal clay skills. Three designs will be presented for students to work through the skills necessary for this sculptural technique. A $10 kit fee will be collected by the instructor during the workshop. Students should bring their own clay, basic metal clay tool kit and, dental tools if they have them. Some sculpting tools will be available for use in the class if students do not have appropriate tools.
